Owner, Mitsuko Gammon, opened Cha-ya in Pacific Grove, CA in 2005. She is trained in Ikebana and traditional tea ceremony; and has worked in retail for many years. Mitsuko was born and raised in Tokyo. She had long wanted to explore the possibilities of bringing her love of tea and Japanese culture to retail. Cha-ya is the result. July of 2008 Cha-ya relocated to this current location. |
